Oddities, Curiosities, and Other Beings

The show was so much fun! Downtown Tupelo had other events that night, including Trick-or-Treating, a fall carnival, and a haunted house. Cold rain did not deter the crowd. West of Shake Rag performed hilarity and there was standing-room only. I cannot recall a moment of quiet or inactivity. I am so grateful for all who took a moment to look, glance, or study the work I had on display. My live model stayed in heels on a platform for over two hours and she will never know how much that meant to me. The papier-mache dress would not have been so alive without her. Thank you, Syrn My'Rage for your talent!

I wanted a twisted carnivale feel, so I used fair tickets for labeling the pieces, made papier mache masks, and stained the dress platform in a circus tent inspiration. I made a playlist using music from Carnivale, Zoe Keating, and American McGee's Alice to create a dark, ethereal feel.  I only have a few photos, at the moment, to display and I'm extremely happy about the excitement my friends had at receiving the masks I made them!

Upcoming Art Show

I'm getting very nervous about the show Thursday. I have a few pieces to complete before (realistically) Tuesday. Pictures to follow after the show!

Sneak Peek

Sneak peek at a section of a few pieces for the upcoming show.

Upcoming Gallery Showing

The show is approaching. I've finished new pieces...which I'll wait until after the show to post. I have a few things to tie up before I'll have what I need for the show. I'm growing more and more nervous as the date approaches. Masquerade and food and an Improv group. Thursday before Halloween. Could it be more perfect?

I tend to shy away from public events that involve my work. I'll be in mask that night, so perhaps I'll wander about as another visitor in the gallery. Hope to see you there.

The Kids

Are We Out of Time Yet?
A tiny statue I made to bring one of The Kids to life. I used newspaper with glue and water and then painted using acrylic. There's some copper wire in there as well as a chop stick between the head and body. The top of the head has watch parts as her inner workings.

I Don't Want This Anymore, There's a Bug In It
A found locust shell coming out of human heart. No locusts were harmed in the making of this.
